Extra Images

These are some images I have used in my contents page to give the appearance of a actual magazine with multiple articles. These pictures I had taken in my GCSE project and they were at a good enough quality to use as small images in this one.

Diary 12/11/12

Today in my media lesson I managed to complete the evalualtion video for my front cover very easily. I also intended to record the sound for my contents and double page spreads. I did this however the voice recorder I used distorted my voice and also the background noise over powered the actual speaking. Due to this I am going to do it at home to avoid complications. However this is a copy of my evaluation video so far...

Diary 7/12/11

Recently I have been working on my magazine evaluation. So far I have completed all of the actual evaluation. However I am going to create it into a voice over video. I have been restricted in doing so as I can only record the voice over at home however I only have Adobe Premier at school so therefor I need to have all my voice over done at home before I can start work here. For this reason I have now started the second question in my analysis and am currently workning on that until I can get home and record the rest of my work.

SLR 101

This is my SLR 101 video that I have been mentioning in my diaries. I am quite happy with it although I think that there were some aspects that could of been clearer. I will also be uploading the images used in the video as they aren't too clear however they are at school so I will be doing next lesson

Diary 22/11/11

So yesterday I tried out the tutorial I posted yesterday, However I didn't like the final outcome so I scrapped it. also yesterday I created my how to camera video which had some complications. The first time I recorded it the tape I used in the camera had a problem on it and I only recorded half of the content. So I then went back in my free period and re done it. However this time I foolishly sat in front of a window to film it which gave bad lighting (something I have now learnt and won't make the same mistake again). However I then managed to fix it up a bit using effects on Adobe Premier. I am currently uploading the video to youtube and will post as soon as it is up online.

Diary 21/11/11

I have just seen this tutorial on youtube which I'm quite interested in trying out. Its pretty basic and has been something I've been considering doing for a while, so hopefully it will work out and I'll be able to use in my magazine.

Diary 20/11/11

Its come to the end of the weekend that I intended to do my next photo shoot from. However unfortunatly i haven't been able to complete it due to being ill myself and on the other day being unable to use my model. This means that I wont be able to start up my next set of articles until I have done. However in the mean time I'm going to create several more photoshop tutorials hopefully. I am also going to create a how to and beginners guide on using the cameras and lenses as I have previously stated. When I finally manage to do my next photo shoot I intend to go up to brick lane market for it as I think I can get some great shots there.

Diary 19/11/11

Recently I have decided that the video upload on blogger is of very poor quality. To counter this I have started changing it all to youtube and then embedding it. This makes the video allot bigger, clearer and of a much higher quality. I think this is important as it enables viewing of some crucial parts of my blog to be clearer and easier.

How To Make A Banner With See Through Text

This is a quick tutorial I have created in order to demonstrate how to make a banner with see through text using photoshop. This effect was used in my first double page spread and I have found it to be very effective.

Wrapping Text Around An Image

This is a quick tutorial I created using camstudio in order to demonstrate how to wrap text around an image in Photoshop. It has allowed me to put my article into my magazine in a professional presentable way that you would see within a magazine.

Magazine Feedback

I got some feedback on my magazine from a peer and this is what they had to say. By getting this feedback it has allowed me to see the magazine from a different perspective and correct any errors that I have over looked.

How to cut someone out in photoshop

This is a quick tutorial I have created demonstrating how to cut someone out using Photoshop. This has been a key feature of creating my magazine as by cutting out images to a high standard not leaving any parts of background it has allowed my magazine to look very professional.

Target Audience Poll Results

At the beggining of the course I created 10 different polls on my blog for people to vote on in order to find out some information about what people want in a music magazine. I didn't get a huge response on this which is why I created my interview of target audience video. However to de clutter my blog I'm taking them off so these are the results I got:

Creating My Button

This is a quick tutorial about how I created my button on the front cover of my magazine. I used camstudio to create it and I find that it is clear and simple to follow. The effect this button has on my front cover I feel is very positive and allows it to stand out.

Front Cover Feedback

Personally I was very happy with the outcome of my magazine front cover. However I have got feedback from peers in these labels as shown above. I have taken into account what they have said and will consider improvements due to this.

Extra Front Covers

On my contents page I made a box for subscriptions. This involved me making several other copies of my front cover. These are the two I made. By making them it demonstrates that my publication is professional with multiple issues and gives audience a alternate way of purchasing my magazine.

Contents Page Inspiration

This is my contents page on the right. On the left is a NME contents page which I have taken inspiration from. Main ideas I took where the square image format and also the band index as I thought these were key things which would improve my magazine.

Diary 17/11/11

So I have now created three double page spreads and a single page for my magazine due to the fact that my article was quite long and I couldnt fit accross the three doubles. However I still has to cut it in places to make it fit and work. I have currently completed my magazine however I want to get allot of feedback and see if I can improve on it more. I am also trying to get access to a good camera for a photo shoot although they have been booked up for a while. I want to do this so that I can create a second article about another artist. I hope this will allows me to demonstrate my photoshop skills further and boost my final mark.

Magazine Draft

This is a complete put together copy of my magazine. However I may find that there are still changes I want to make so it could change.

Diary 14/11/11

Tonight I have spent my time creating a rough copy of my front cover on photoshop. I am very happy with the majority of it however I do need to put something in the top corner. I was thinking an arrow or maybe and effect in which it appears to have the page folding over with a sell line underneath. However I am going to get some opinions from my peers and tackle this challenge tomorrow in my lesson. This is todays copy below...

Final Draft Of My Front Cover

This is my final copy of my magazine front cover which I am very happy with. I think I've portrayed good photoshop skills and completed it to a high standard. However if later on I come up with any more ideas I may be inclinned to change it.

Diary 14/11/11

Today I have been re making my front cover because from feedback I have received there are several things to improve, first are the mast head and bottom banner. I found a new font and style for my masthead first which i got from here: http://www.dafont.com/unicorn-nf.font . Next I was going through several front covers for banner inspiration when I cam across this Empire magazine front cover. Even though it's not a music magazine I really liked the banner effect so I recreated something similar as you can see below.

Double Page Spread 2 First Draft

This is my first draft with my second double page spread I am very pleased with how its come out. However I believe there are several improvements I need to do to it in order to create a more professional and asthetically appealing product.

Article Draft

Now if you live in the UK and haven’t heard the amazing hot new sensation that is Georgina and the Sparrows then you truly haven't been living! But after taking the UK by storm is it time for the rest of the world to get a look at the Camden superstar? Well it seems the world screams yes! Having two hit singles and a top ten album for 8 weeks in the UK just isn’t enough for some and now with a tour spanning through the 50 states will she acclaim to such success as she has here? Backed up by her faithful Sparrows we caught up with Georgina as she gets set to take the US of A by storm.
So first of all Georgina thanks for taking out the time to speak with us today.
It’s a pleasure Matthew, anything for the readers of Unplugged!
So down to business, what first kicked off your love for Indie music?
Well as a kid I always loved singing, and growing up in Camden music culture was a big part of my life. I think my passion for Indie truly started when I was 12. I remember my big sis going to a local gig one night and all I wanted was to go along and be like her. But being at night my mum wouldn’t let me go. So that night I told my mum I was going to sleep round my best friend Ruby’s. Instead we snuck into the concert and I remember that whole night just blowing my mind.
Wow that is quite a story! So I take it you were a bit of a trouble maker as a kid?
(laughs) well I did find myself in my fair bit of mischief but I guess that’s just part of growing up!
It certainly is! So you write all of your songs I’m right to believe?
Yes I certainly do, I feel that singing lyrics that come personally from within me allows me to put more emotion into my performance and give the fans what they really want.
That really is evident! Having two number ones and a top ten debut album now that is an achievement for a 19 year old! How does it feel knowing your voice has touched so many?
Well I’m just and ordinary girl living and extraordinary dream! Right now I’m loving life and I can’t get enough of it! I hope to be making the music I love for a long long time, nothing can bring me down!
And I hope so to! It must be hard though spending all that time on the road away from family and friends?
Well I admit I do miss my mum on the road, she has always been my biggest supporter, but at the same time I travelling the country with my second family performing to thousands. I love every second of it.
Well that is important because by the end of the month you’ll be touching down for the America tour! What made you want to go and do it?
Well first of all being known all over the UK is amazing but it’s my dream to be a global star and what better place to kick that of than America! But also I’ve had a huge online response through twitter, Facebook and Youtube from people downloading my music and asking me to come over. So what could be a better way to repay them and acclaim to the American charts than a tour?! Watch out America here I come!
Well I do wish you the best of luck with that! So let’s get off the stage and let the fans meet the real you! It’s been said that you find yourself as a bit of a prankster whilst on tour, what was the best prank you ever played?
(Smiles) Well I remember one night I think up in Manchester me and fellow Sparrows Mark and Luke headed out to find a local club where we could let a bit of steam off and have a good time. One night of rocking the dance floor and allot of tequila shots later we all headed back to the hotel. Now some people may think rock star life is glamorous but that’s not always the case… This was a pretty crappy premier inn. Once up on our floor we were still buzzin so we crashed out in Marks room he was sharing with sleeping guitarist Rory who hadn’t come out that night claiming he wanted a quite night. Now this was something we didn’t find forgivable so we decided it was time for some revenge. Being the only girl I snuck back to my room to get some hair removal cream. I think you can guess where this was going (chuckles). It wasn’t until the next morning when the three of us who had fallen asleep in the room were awoken at 8am all hungover by a screaming Rory in a towel. Obviously intending to get an early start he had jumped in the shower none the wiser about his fate. A completely bald Rory exploded as the three of us cracked up on the floor. It was the funniest thing I have ever witnessed! Although we are all in fear of the revenge pranks he has promised to come!
Wow that really is a great story! I’m sure you’ll be sleeping with one eye open for a long time! You mentioned how tour life isn’t as glamorous as we’re led to believe, what gets you through all the rubbish hotels and long bus journeys?
Well it’s the people I get to spend this adventure with that make it so great. The fun we have can’t be beaten and the family it has made us, there’s never a dull moment on the road with us and that’s what makes it so great!
So you’ve been all around the UK and Ireland, what have been your most memorable concerts and adventures along the way?
Well I think one of the best concerts on the road had to be Cardiff! Just the energy from the moment I stepped on stage to the moment I walked off was unbelievable, I never wanted that night to end! The crowd where truly insane that night and I never wanted that night to end! Then again my all-time favourite has to be Camden! Nothing beats performing to the community you grew up in and nothing beats that community chanting your name! However in the name of adventure nothing can beat that off Newcastle. We were in London at the time when we got a phone call from our manager telling us that the bus we were set to take up there had broken and we would have to make our own way! At the time Rory and I had been at a friend’s party and hadn’t really given much thought to it. The next morning we woke up to find that we couldn’t get a train ticket to Newcastle as all were full! The only way we were going to get there was by car. Now my nice little mini which I love so much was currently in the shop so this left us to make the agonizing journey in Rory’s beat up knackered old Vauxhall! For months me and the other guys had been ripping into him for the state of his car and telling him to get a new one so as you can imagine I wasn’t overly joyed to be in the piece of S**t he calls a car. So anyway half way there smoke started billowing from the engine! So we pulled off into a local garage in God knows where! We were then told that it was unsafe to drive and that there was nothing we could do! So 12 bus journeys, a lift by a fan and one truck driver later we finally made it to the arena literally an hour before set to go on! Now that’s what I call cutting it close! (Laughs)
Wow you really have had some fantastic adventures it sounds! So far all of your songs have just been you, are there any artists you would like to make some songs with?
Oh there are tons! I have so many inspirational artists and so many respected singers I would love to work with, I could name them all day! I think a few of the main ones though would have to be The Kooks, Sum 41, Ed Sheeran and Rizzle Kicks. Now I know that Rizzle Kicks is a bit of an odd one but I really think that we could make a fantastic single together as with Ed Sheeran! Kooks and Sum 41 too would be just amazing to work with they are all amazing artists and it would be a dream to work with them along with tons more!
I think I speak for not just myself but everyone when I say that we would all love to see that too! Now your dress style is something that everyone loves what gives you your inspiration for what you wear?
Well to be honest I just wear what I like and I wear what is me, if I see something I liked it’s what I’ll get, fashion isn’t my boss I’m fashions! (Smiles)
Well whatever you do you always look stunning! So back to the America tour! Any clues on who could be supporting you in your concerts?
Well I’ve managed to get several fantastic artists lined up that I know the fans will loved! What I will say is that I have some great UK artists I plan on bringing over and also some American ones that I can’t wait to work with!
Sounds great! I look forward to finding out whom! So you’re going to be spending about 4 months across the bug pond, got your eyes set on seeing any sights whilst over there?
Oh yes I certainly do! I want to see it all! There’s so much to see I just really hope I have the time! I want to see the Statue of Liberty and Mount Rushmore all the way to the Grand Canyon and Niagara Falls! Growing up we never had much and the closest I got to this kind of travelling was a weekend with the school in France and watching American TV shows dreaming of someday going! Now I’ve got the chance I’m going to take it and make the most of it! It’s a different world over there! I just hope they can understand my accent! (Chuckles)
So your first album was such a hit! Do you see a second one coming soon in the future?
Of course I do! I’ve already been writing up a few songs and getting it together, when it comes to music I just can’t stop! I’m always flowing with ideas and inspiration and I love every second, there’s no time to be without music in my world and that’s how I love it!
Well this really has been an experience for me and I really hope to be speaking to you again soon! Best of luck with the tour!
No thank you I’ve had a great time and I look forward to meeting up with you again soon! I hope you can come out and catch a concert would be great to see you or any of the fans!
